I've always wanted to get laser correction on my eyes. I've been a "four eyes" since third grade, and glasses (and contacts) have worn out their welcome. A friend of mine had the surgery several years ago. After a day or two of sitting at home in the dark because the light hurt his "new" eyes, he was good to go. Good luck Friday!

I loved this book, too. Thank you for sending it. The narrative was captivating and the imagery vivid. What did you think of the movie? I haven't seen it yet, but I want to soon.

The first Dune book is one of my Top 10 books. Amazing story. Incredible characters. Just read the second book a few years ago. Still stuck with me even after so many years between them. What a great series.

Congratulations, Bill! That is excellent. I think I finally lost my first few pounds since I started working out again 3 1/2 weeks ago. I'm starting to feel better though, so that is nice. I had thought about trying Atkins, but my family has a long history of heart disease and cholesterol issues (both led to my grandfather's early death), so I've always avoided it. My food choices have been somewhat similar though: I have an egg on an english muffin (preferably 100 percent whole wheat) every morning plus a bowl of multi-grain Cheerios and a 20oz. glass of water. For lunch, I eat leftovers from the night before or a PB&J on multigrain bread, a 12oz. can of Cherry Coke Zero (soon to switch to unsweetened, home-brewed iced tea though) and a handful of potato chips. I try to snack on veggies when we get them in our CSA box. For dinner, we make something at home. I hardly ever eat out anymore, and I've cut out much of my junk food intake as well. And now I'm riding my bike an average of six miles daily plus hitting the gym to lift weights at least one hour weekly. I hope to get back to 205, what I weighed when I moved to Oregon in March 2000, by the end of the year. And by taking the weight off slowly, I'm hopeful that it will be easier to keep off.

The price has been reduced to $349. I am even more tempted. When are the upgrades coming. Will I feel stupid for buying it a year from now.

I saw it on Friday. Pretty cool. If you're interested in the history I would recommend a book called Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World. It's a really good read.
